Spanish experimental rock band Perroflauta was formed by drummer César González and singer/guitarists Gecko Turner and Markos Gayón in 1996. Soon, they recorded a demo called Cuba #28 Exp. In 1997, the multi-ethnic group made a self-titled record, performing a mixture of rock, African rhythms, Jamaican reggae, and Brazilian bossa nova. Two years later, they composed four songs for a local play called Aguas Tan Frias Que Hielan El Corazón. In 2000, Perroflauta recorded Africaniño.
