Brother and, since 1961, partner of Marcos Valle's, Paulo Sérgio Valle had the first work by the duo, "Sonho de Maria," recorded in 1963 by the Tamba Trio. His "Samba de Verão" (with Marcos Valle) was recorded by Walter Wanderley, reaching second place on the American charts in 1965. The song subsequently received dozens of re-recordings (as "Summer Samba"). Always having his songs recorded by Marcos Valle on his solo albums, Paulo Sérgio also wrote music for soap operas (Pigmalião 70) and won the IV Song Olympiad of Athens, Greece, with "Minha Voz Virá do Sol da América."
