On its increasingly popular recordings for the Swedish Massproduktion label, My Orchard adds a ornamental touch of electronica subtlety to its catchy style of forceful guitar-driven pop/rock. The Stockholm-based band began it ascendance toward national popularity in the late '90s when it contributed to the 1998 One Try Records compilation The Few and the Proud. A year later My Orchard released its debut album, Grebo, on Massproduktion, the label it would continue recording albums for. Following a contribution to the We're Only in It for the Money comilation in 2000, the band released the Too Cool for School EP. The title track became My Orchard's biggest hit yet, spending several weeks in heavy rotation on Sweden's National Radio P3, and the B-side, "Out of Focus," similarly earned heavy rotation. The success of these songs set the stage for 5 Years Long and As Tall As a Dream in 2001, the band's second full-length album. Keyboardist/vocalist Jenny Sjöström joined the band after it had concluded the recording session in late 2000, adding to a lineup that already included vocalist/guitarist Johan Sigerud, bassist/vocalist Tobias Lundberg, guitarist Odd Wetzenstein, and drummer Jon Lindroth. With the addition of Sjöström, My Orchard increased its presence as a live band, touring all over Sweden and as far away as London and New York.
