Named in honor of the band fronted by Jack Nicholson in the Sixties acid-trip film Psych Out, the funk-pop outfit Mumblin' Jim formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1995. Comprising singer/keyboardist Joshua Rifkin, guitarist Steven Fallis, bassist Victor Sistov and drummer Jesse Hanna, the group relocated to San Francisco in 1996, quickly emerging as one of the Bay Area's most popular and acclaimed young bands; their debut LP The Rainbow Connection followed on the local Mod Lang label in 1999.
