New York City-based quartet Morningsiders craft melodic, narrative indie folk alternately tinged with country, bluegrass, Americana, and the mellower side of jazz-rock. The group entered the mainstream in 2015 with the viral streaming hit "Empress," and capitalized on that success with the release of their 2018 debut album, A Little Lift, and 2020 sophomore effort, Pollen. The band enlisted producer Peter Katis (Sharon Van Etten, the National) to helm their 2021 EP Easy Does It, which saw them adopt a more concise and accessible folk-pop sound. Magnus Ferguson (lead vocals, guitar) and Reid Jenkins (fiddle, vocals) formed Morningsiders as students at Columbia University in 2012, adding Cody Gibson (bass, vocals) and David Su (drums, vocals).
