With her many albums and countless tours, Aurora "Rory" Block has staked a solid claim to being the world's finest practitioner of the acoustic blues tradition; she's a formidable slide guitarist, a talented songwriter, and excellent interpreter of the great Delta blues singers. She signed to RCA in 1975 and issued her self-titled debut, a funky rock and pop outing during a time when record companies weren't interested in blues records. After four albums of this type for Chrysalis and other labels, Block was done with the mainstream music business.
