Brookline, MA-based singer/songwriter Mary Stopas first gained notice as the singer/guitarist in Boston's garage rockers the Oscillators. Shortly after the simultaneous release of that band's first two albums, Incong-Neato! and Let's Rock Instead, Miss Mary (as Stopas bills herself) began a concurrent solo career. Her first solo album, Hey Blue!, came out in early 2001. Produced by Miss Mary's Oscillators bandmate Joel Mellin, Hey Blue! is a little sweeter and less fuzz guitar oriented than the Oscillators' Nuggets-inspired rock.
