Singer/songwriter Michael Fitz was born in Lexington, KY, and grew up on his grandfather's tobacco farm. He began playing guitar at age 11. He attended the University of South Carolina, where he majored in business and minored in music theory and composition. Trained as a chemical engineer, he worked on offshore oil-drilling platforms in the Gulf of Mexico while writing songs on the side. He became a protégé of singer Rosemary Butler, who included him as part of the chorus she organized for Neil Young's 2006 album Living with War. Fitz recorded his debut album, Never Look Back, in 2005 and 2006. He began playing shows around Los Angeles in August 2006. The album was given wide release on Magjoy Records on October 6, 2008. In the meantime, he also issued an EP, Everything Must Change, in Europe on April 14, 2008. A Christmas single, "Eyes of a Child," appeared for the holiday season of 2008.
