Before he signed with Damon Gough's (Badly Drawn Boy) Twisted Nerve imprint in late 2003, Manchester-based Martin Rebelski was known primarily as a supporting musician. He was Doves' regular touring keyboardist, and contributed keys, glockenspiel, and accordion to their albums. But Rebelski also issued his own Thanks for Your Thoughts LP on Heavenly in 2003, and its gentle instrumental soundscapes helped catch Gough's ear. Rebelski debuted on Twisted Nerve in November 2004 with an EP (Play the School Piano) and full-length (Stickers on Keys) that mixed icy-cool piano instrumentals with contributors' hushed vocals and flourishes of strings and electronics.
