Christian singer Marlene Brehm grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Brehm was drawn to music and theater arts even as a child, and was singing and dancing as part of the Showstoppers group when she was just seven years old. Later, attending Webster University Conservatory of Theatre Arts, she concentrated on musicals. She moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college to focus on a career as a singer and actor. She found roles in several television commercials, as well as spots on the television shows That 70's Show, With a Trace, and 8 Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, among others. As a singer, Brehm concentrated on her Christian faith, and became a worship leader at New Hope Christian Fellowship. There she was scouted by Dream Records and signed to a recording contract.
