A singer/songwriter with a flair for conversational, emotive lyrics and a sound that encompasses electronic pop, soft rock, and country, Liza Owen introduced her cathartic and complex take on pop with 2021's Songs from Monte Nido EP. Born in Headley, a small town in Surrey, England, Owen developed an independent streak early on as she encountered racism while growing up (her mother was Cambodian and her father was English). She began writing and recording her songs at age ten and embarked on piano lessons soon after. By the time she was 17, she was a student at the London School of Music, but soon left to pursue pop music full-time.
