b. LaCosta Tucker, 6 April 1951, Seminole, Texas, USA. The elder sister of Tanya Tucker. During the 60s, she worked briefly with her sister in a group called the Country Westerners in Phoenix, but became disenchanted with a musical career and left to work in a hospital in Toltrec, Arizona. After sister Tanya’s chart hit with ‘Delta Dawn’ in 1972, she returned to music and between 1974 and 1978, recording as La Costa for Capitol Records, she registered 12 country chart hits. These included Top 20 successes with ‘Get On My Love Train’, ‘He Took Me For A Ride’, ‘This House Runs On Sunshine’ and ‘Western Man’. Since then, in spite of a change of label to Elektra, only two further hits (both minor) have followed; the last, ‘Love Take It Easy On Me’, released under her full name of LaCosta Tucker, was in 1982.
