Kika Edgar, also known as simply Kika, is a Latin pop singer from Mexico who began her career as a television actress. Born Sandra Érika Edgar on January 9, 1985, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she began appearing on television around the turn of the century in shows such as Primer Amor. She established herself as a singer in 2006 as a contestant on the Pop Idol-style television show Cantando por un Sueño, on which she competed as part of a duo. Her impressive performance on the show resulted in a CD/DVD of cover songs, Cantando por un Sueño (2006), billed to Kika y Raúl. In the wake of this success, Edgar embarked on a solo career in association with Televisa EMI Music, releasing Kika (2006) later in the year and scoring a hit single with "Tal Vez." Her follow-up album, Lo Siento Mi Amor (2008), was a Top Ten hit in Mexico.
