One of a small handful of master yodelers based in the United States, Kerry Christensen discovered yodeling while in Austria in the mid-'70s. He was fascinated with the odd European singing style, dedicating himself to it and studying recordings he purchased, although he considered it only a hobby at this point. However, brought up on an Idaho farm, Christensen found himself with plenty of time to practice, and soon he developed into a world-class yodeler specializing in a particularly speedy and dexterous form known as Bravour. In 1984, a chance encounter with a talent scout from Walt Disney World led to Christensen and his family relocating to Orlando, FL, where he served as Disney World yodeler for the next 16 years. Christensen has released a number of CDs that cover the full spectrum of the vocal form.
