There are many credits associated with the production of recordings that can seem completely vague. Sometimes the context itself helps to determine just what it was an invididual did, so when John Brown gets credit for "coordination" on the surf music compilation entitled Toes On Nose, one assumption might be that he had something to do with teaching correct surfing technique. After all, one wrong move in the surfing game and it might be John Brown's body lying in the sand, bruised and battered by the unforgiving waves. This assumption would be based on the idea that guys in surf music bands surfed, which isn't always true. Brown's real forte may have been securing the rights to various regional singles.
