A fine banjoist who also takes good-time vocals, Jimmy Mazzy has been a popular attraction in the trad jazz circuit since the late '70s. Mazzy has freelanced since that time, appearing at many classic jazz festivals, and working with a countless number of bands including the Yankee Rhythm Kings, the Magnolia Jazz Five, the Back Bay Ramblers and the Paramount Jazz Band of Boston. He has recorded for the tiny OZ and TJ labels plus in a variety of settings for Stomp Off including an unusual duet album with tuba player Eli Newberger.
