British guitarist James Powell performed and recorded with Mover beginning with the group's formation in 1996 and concluding sometime following the dawn of the new millennium. The band continued on without him, losing both guitar and vocal harmonies that Powell had contributed, "a big shame" according to a critic who caught a 2001 gig without Powell. The guitarist should not be confused with other performers with the same name, such as the prolific jazz saxophonist or trumpeter. The Mover band under discussion should also not be confused with an identically named combo from San Francisco.
