Formed in 2002 by John Maher (vocals), Damien Kelly (bass), Gavan Murray (drums), Eorann Stafford (guitar), and Sean Gosker (guitar), this Dublin-based Irish rock band made their recording debut in 2004 with the Raw EP. The dirty, bluesy rock ‘n’ roll on offer was defiantly based on the 70s sound of the Rolling Stones and Free, shot through with a youthful swagger. The success of the title track on the national download charts propelled Jaded Sun into the mainstream, and they built on their profile with an extensive touring schedule. After signing to the SiAn Records label, they completed the EP Falling On The Fears with leading Irish producers Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy. In 2006, they supported Bon Jovi at Croke Park before decamping to Los Angeles to begin work on their debut album. Gypsy Trip reprised the sound of the earlier EPs, and while hardly offering anything new was a feisty collection of blues-based hard rock.
