Hailing from the town of Pistola in Italy's Tuscan region, Incoming Cerebral Overdrive formed in 2002 and appeared to have jumped out of the starting gate when their 2003 demo won top honors from Metal Hammer magazine. But the group would then go quiet for half a decade before releasing its first album, Cerebral Heart, through Italy's own Myphonic Records in 2008, and the fact that it was mixed in Salem, MA, by respected Converge mastermind Kurt Ballou also did little to raise awareness for the Incoming Cerebral Overdrive cause, with so many of his productions clogging the marketplace. Nevertheless, the band's Samuele Storai (vocals), Maurizio Tuci (guitar), Stefano Tocci (guitar, synth), Marco Filippi (bass), and Filippo Baldi (drums) wasted no time, this time, before delivering their 2009 sophomore effort, Controverso (now through Supernatural Cat Records), and this effort did indeed garner far more critical praise thanks to its challenging brand of eclectic and oftentimes mathematically complex deathcore.
