Heinrich Ludwig Egmont Dorn
A student of Berger, Klein and Zelter and a teacher of Schumann, Dorn accepted a position at the theatre of Konigsberg, a conductorship at Leipzig, Hamburg, Riga, Cologne and eventually Berlin. Among the other composers he met, through the opportunities of his appointments, were Wagner and Hiller. Dorn's musical genres included opera, choral works, chamber music, orchestral pieces and funny lieder. It was the latter (together with his conducting skills) that made his reputation and also brought him into some popularity.
