Artist Biography by

The Fitz & Startz were a Manchester-based quartet led by guitarist Terry Fitzharris. Their sound was rooted principally in folk-influenced harmony vocals, and they were briefly signed to Pye Records, which released one single, "I'm Not Running Away" b/w "So Sweet." Although Biran Hindley was their nominal lead guitarist, the A-side of the latter record was important as an identifiable pre-stardom session appearance by Jeff Beck, whose flashy style made it notable musically. It was Beck's participation that has gotten it included in several anthologies of '60s British rock & roll.
