Fat City formed in Washington, DC, USA, and included in their line-up the husband-and-wife team, Bill Danoff (b. 7 May 1946, Springfield, Massachusetts, USA; guitar/vocals) and Taffy Danoff (b. Kathleen Nivert, 25 October 1944, Washington, DC, USA; vocals), plus Jim Parker (guitar/vocals). With their cheerful, summery vocals they released two albums, enlisting as guest musicians such notable artists as Bob James, Eric Weissberg, Artie Traum and Hubert Laws. After failing to achieve the predicted success, Fat City’s ultimate demise led to the Danoffs forming a duo as Bill And Taffy which, in turn, led to the Starland Vocal Band and national fame. After the demise of Starland, the duo resurrected Fat City and, despite their marital split, they were still to be found performing together in the Washington, DC area during later decades.
