Award-winning Singaporean actress Fann Wong also found success as a Mandopop singer, releasing her first of several albums in 1996. Born in Singapore on January 27, 1971, she began her career as a model. After moving to Taiwan in 1993 and appearing in commercials, she was offered television acting roles in Singapore. Her first film role in Chronicle of Life (1995) won her both Best Actress and Best Newcomer awards at that year's Star Awards in Singapore. The following year she released her debut Mandopop album, Fanntasy (1996), which was subsequently repackaged as I Live Alone (1997) for the Taiwanese market. She then released a series of three follow-up albums -- Shopping (1998), Missing You (1999), and No Problem (2000) -- before taking a break from the music industry to concentrate on her acting career, which was increasingly successful and included a role in the Hollywood film Shanghai Knights (2003).
