Before Elliott, one of the preeminent emo bands to emerge from the mid-'90s, there was Falling Forward. Singer Chris Higdon and bassist Jason Mobely grew up together in Louisville, KY, and formed the band in 1991 with drummer Ben Lord and guitarists Gary Bell and Benny Clark, who was later replaced by Pat McClimans of Metroschifter. The band sounds like a younger, more raw version of Elliott, which is not surprising since Higdon, Mobely, and Lord went onto form it after Falling Forward broke up in 1995. Clark joined Elliott in 2000.
