Kevin Macbeth grew up in suburban Miami; while still a child, he begged his parents for a guitar. After they gave him one, he played in various bands until he dropped out of high school, left home and gradually moved to New York. While on the way, Macbeth began to write pop songs with whatever instruments he could afford, usually keyboards. He finally got to New York and pooled his savings into a mini-album, shopping it around the city. Chrysalis signed the newly christened Fabulon and released his debut album, All Girls Are Pretty, Vol. 1.
