El Ultimo Tango is a chamber group based in Birmingham, England, that specializes in the music of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. Initially members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, they organized in 2002 in order to play a festival that served as an observance of the 10th anniversary of Piazzolla's death in 1992. The initial concert was so well received that they decided to press on, and released their first recording, El Ultimo Tango Plays Astor Piazolla, on the English Somm label in 2005. The group consists of Nicholas Bricht on flute, Mark O'Brien on saxophones, Eduardo Vassallo on cello, Fred Lezama Thomas on piano, and Mark Goodchild on double bass. They have also concertized in the U.K. with German-Argentine vocalist Lloica Czackis.
