An alias for Paul Phillips, this act had a surprise UK hit during Christmas 1978 with the novelty record ‘Car 67’, concerning a mini-cab driver despatched to pick up the former love of his life. The song was performed in the manner of the cabby talking to his controller over the radio. After the follow-up single ‘Headlights’ flopped, Phillips went on to be a successful publisher with magazines such as the highly-rated black music weekly Echoes, and Video Trade Weekly. Perhaps, not surprisingly, he does not wish to be reminded of his former career.
