San Francisco's lively house scene owes a lot to DJ EFX (Raul Recinos in real life). Though never really at risk of stepping into mainstream stardom, he is much respected and admired by fans of underground music. The prolific DJ and producer began his quest to redefine the Bay Area's house movement in the late 1980s. He has since released a bevy of cult tunes (often through the Strictly Rhythm and Underground Construction labels) and collaborated with a whole parade of gifted artists, such as Ismael Clermont and DJs Rasoul and Digit. Hunting down all of his work, however, can be a little tricky, as he has recorded under several different guises, including Those Saucee Buggahs, The Budwrestlers, Xtreme Funktrimists and E-Team.
