Artist Biography by

Washington, D.C.-based electro-pop trio the District Basement Collective consists of vocalist Alexandra Scott, turntablist DJ Boom (aka Jeremy Beaver), and bassist/co-producer Dex Dubious (Drew Kennedy). DJ Boom, who has also released five breaks albums on his own, started the District Basement Collective in 1998 when he was living in New York. Dubious, a former computer science major, played in several projects before forming Thrift Unit and touring with 2 Skinee J's; he met DJ Boom at a gig and the duo began collaborating shortly afterward. Scott, who studied classical guitar as well as jazz and opera vocal technique, joined the District Basement Collective after DJ Boom and Dubious had earned a deal with DCide Records, who released the group's debut album, Listen, in spring 2001.
