One of Indonesia's best-known film figures, Deddy Mizwar was born on March 5, 1955 in Jakarta. He first began appearing in films in the mid-'80s, specifically in Sunan Kalijaga. Over the next 20 years, he would appear as an actor in nearly 15 films. In 2003 he moved over to the other side of the camera, acting as director on the film Kiamat Sudah Dekat. Soon after, Mizwar would take on the job of Chairman of the Indonesian National Film Council. As an actor and director, Mizwar has made appearances and is credited on soundtracks based or taken from the films he has appeared in or worked on.
