To release an album at age 19 with a major-label distribution deal seems pretty remarkable. However, Darlyn Madé had begun his singing career 12 years earlier at the age of 7, performing in festivals in his hometown of Bonao, Santo Domingo. In fact, he had two bands previously before he formed Darlyn y Los Herederos, the combo that would earn him his recording contract: Coco Band and La Muralla. Pruébame, the album that was issued by Darlyn and his band, showed off the skills that he had gathered in his years of playing in successful Merengue bands, with a collection of songs that alternated between romantic ballads and danceable hits, including the primary single, "Lamparita."
