Artist Biography by

Uncharacteristically walking the chronologically inverse route from death to thrash metal, Holland's Crustacean formed in 1989, and initially went by the misrepresentative name of "Crystal Lake." Eventually, five years, a few demos, and many musician changes later, the renamed group found their true calling as a traditional thrash band in the image of Slayer, for whom a few of the members had started a tribute band which helped pay the bills. As Crustacean, vocalist/bassist Tom Paulusse, guitarists Ferry Damen and Miche Meeuwissen, and drummer Joris van Iersel recorded their debut EP Headcleaner in 1995, then proceeded to unleash a series of neo-thrash releases well into the next decade, including 1998's full-length Burden of Our Suffering, 2000's Satanized EP and 2003's Insaniac album.
