Living up to his name, Seattle's Conrad Uno, who owns and operates both Egg studios and the Pop Llama label, is certainly a singular and unique talent. A true DIY-er, Uno has consistently created and recorded music done for its own sake rather than for any stabs at commerciality. After recording his own off-beat home demos as a teenager Uno was ushered into the world of music production by his friends, the Young Fresh Fellows, who insisted he record their debut album, Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest, in his makeshift basement studio. The sonic structure of the album--howling guitars, sloppy playing and lots of mistakes left in for the character they bring--still defines Uno's style to this day.
