b. Jarrow, County Durham, England. This traditional singer-songwriter is also an established author and playwright. Her early career was spent working as a nurse, although she also wrote for nursing and business magazines. Bryce left the health industry to become a freelance writer and has published several short stories, plays and novels, while passing on her knowledge by running writing workshops and reading groups for children. Her musical career began in her late teens with a number of local folk bands, and she continued to play in pubs and clubs while pursuing her nursing career. In the 90s she formed the country rock band Virginia Slims, which had evolved into the Katy Freeway Band by the new millennium. The 2007 solo set No Deals, No Promises was a pleasant collection of country and folk-inflected pop.
