Led by vihuela player Francisco Luengo, Capela Compostelana has taken a fresh approach in its interpretation of Renaissance and Baroque music and songs. Their focus has remained on the music of Jose de Vaquendo (1642-1711), the chapel master of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostelena. A native of Corunna, Spain, Luengo has studied pre-19th century music and instruments since 1979. He began to play prawn viola two years later.
