The Bucks are an engaging Celtic folk duo formed in the mid-90s by veterans Terry Woods (Steeleye Span, Woods Band, Pogues) and Ron Kavana, most recently employed as a United Nations music therapist in Sarajevo. Long-standing friends and collaborators, they made the switch to a full-time partnership with 1994’s Dancin’ To The Ceili Band. For two multi-instrumentalists, the keynote of the album was ironically their vocal strength - Woods’ harmonies elegantly supporting the impressive, rough-edged lead of Kavana. With friends such as Paddy Keenan (pipes; ex-Bothy Band), Fran Byrne (drums), Rod Demick (bass) and Miriam Kavana (fiddle), the blend of laments, Celtic ballroom and up-tempo rock was excellent.
