Brainstorm is a space rock band that was formed in Australia in 1988. The group was the idea of drummer Gary Simonite. He recruited Paul Foley (guitar) with the intent of starting a band and immediately recording. Foley brought Clive Rosewarne in to the project to do bass chores. Simonite filled out the lineup with his associate Karl Eastaway (vocals). The result was a band called Dead Orbisons. In time, the group added Steve Bechervaise on keyboards and Craig Carter on lead guitar. The following year, the group changed their name to Brainstorm. That same year, Rosewarne left the group, as did Eastaway. The bass work was taken up by Mick Lukeis, while Foley assumed the vocal chores. Lukeis stayed with the group until 1992, when he was replaced by Jeff Powerlett. Simonite had also left the group by this time. The group released a cassette-only album in 1994, called Earth Zero. Their next album was the 1998 CD Tales of the Future. Since that release, the group has a new drummer, Vittorio Di Iorio, and Earth Zero has been reissued on CD.
