Bob Coltman is one of the best kept secrets in traditional music. He has written hundreds of songs, and many have entered folk music and credited to "traditional". Even when you hear Bob's songs for the first time, you feel as though you have heard them before. Very few musicians have had Bob's ability to write a song and have it accepted, immediately, as traditional. An excellent instrumentalist on banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and harmonica, Bob is admired by all of his contemporaries and it is a rare performance by traditional musicians that does not include at least one of his songs. His recordings are rare, but well worth the time and effort searching for them.
