Of the few rock bands of any note to emerge from the Humberside region in England (in the two decades that the area was not designated as part of Lincolnshire or Yorkshire), most seemed to draw their principal influence from Status Quo. Blade Runner were no exception, despite the fact that they took their name from a futuristic science fiction film. Comprising Steve Mackay (vocals), Gary Jones (guitar), Mark Wilde (guitar), Mick Cooper (bass) and Gregg Ellis (drums), they made their debut in 1984 with Hunted for Ebony Records. It was followed two years later by Warriors Of Rock, but with neither record selling substantially, the members of Blade Runner settled back into semi-retirement, with some members remaining active on the local club rock scene.
