Crossing the line between new wave and glam, Audra & the Antidote began in the summer of 1996 in Nashville, TN. Known for their bizarre theatrics on-stage, they never quite fit into the local scene there as they juggled names and bandmembers. The group existed in one form or another until singer Audra Coldiron discovered bassist Edwin Benson. He joined the band with his wife, keyboardist Kim Benson, in 1997 and stayed for three years until he was replaced by Emmy Davies. Soon Stephen Lamm signed on to play guitar after filling in for their unstable lineup enough times, and drummer J.T. Terrell joined in 2000. This finalized the lineup for their debut album, Hello, released independently in 2001.
