Techno producer Heiko Laux released a trilogy of sought-after EPs as Apathism in 1996 and 1997. The records featured some of the German producer's most experimental minimal techno to date, and since the productions were also quite ambient and moody, many drew comparisons between Laux's Apathism series and Richie Hawtin's similarly rare Concept series and Mike Ink's more daring work of the same era. The EPs were compiled on the Apathism compilation, released by Laux on his U Turn label in 1998. A fourth EP followed in 2001 on one of Laux's other labels, K2O.
