Connecticut-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Andrew Hoover originally aspired to be a chef, but after learning to play the guitar in high school he became more attracted to a music career. He began writing songs and singing, and he dropped out of college after his sophomore year to pursue music full-time. In 2007, he issued the first of two self-released EPs, and he booked himself and played up and down the Eastern Seaboard and as far west as Chicago. A break came when he attracted the attention of Rock Ridge Music, which signed him to a recording contract in 2008. Label president Jason Spiewak personally produced Hoover's debut album, Chances, Stances & Romances, which Rock Ridge released on September 22, 2009.
