Chic's "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" isn't on Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah: '70s New York Disco, but the compilation -- "Conceived and compiled with love by Ian Dewhirst" -- is another enjoyable entry in Harmless' budget-priced Backbeats catalog. While the set contains only 11 tracks, Dewhirst stuck to the superior and lengthy 12" mixes, and it's certainly worth the cost of a typical new release. Containing a fine selection of obscure and relatively well-known cuts -- classics like Loleatta Holloway's "Hit & Run" (a number 11 Billboard disco hit) and Moment of Truth's "Endlessly" (number three) -- it should satisfy those who own only a couple disco compilations as well as collectors, many of whom will be thrilled to own a great-sounding copy of Ultra High Frequency's "We're on the Right Track" (released on a New York label yet made in Philly, but who could complain?).
