AllMusic Review by

K. is the alias of Karla Schickele, formerly of Beekeeper and later of the reliably brilliant folk-pop group Ida; this four-song solo debut, a self-released CD-R first made available during a series of autumn 2000 live dates, reiterates the importance and value of her addition to the Ida roster, expanding on the poignant beauty of past contributions like "Poor Dumb Bird," "Man in Mind," and "Firefly." Backed by Ida fellows and confederates like the brothers Littleton, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Tara Jane O'Neil, Schickele doesn't deviate much from the norm -- although "Reminder" touches on the noisier intensity of her Beekeeper work, neither the delicate moodiness of "Bad Day at Black Rock" nor "Hip Flask" would sound at all out of place on records like Ten Small Paces and Will You Find Me, couching Schickele's richly expressive vocals in gentle guitar drones, thoughtful piano figures, and spare rhythms.
