Mexican Tejano star Pepe Aguilar may sport an outsized sombrero in the manner of his famous father, singer Antonio Aguilar, but don't let that fool you into thinking that Y TENERTE OTRA VEZ (or anything else Pepe has done up to now) is your father's Tejano. While the old-school style of the elder Aguilar was obviously a formative influence, Pepe is quite clearly his own man. His music reflects a healthy respect for the Mexican musical tradition mixed with the willingness to open up the door to new sounds and influences, making digital keyboards an option equally as acceptable as the bandoneon or the bajo sexto. More than a decade into a successful recording career, Y TENERTE OTRA VEZ proves that Aguilar has the staying power it takes to be a major star in the Tejano music constellation.
