Instrumentalist Roby Deaton has created an opulent musical homage to the mountains of Colorado in XIV COLORADO ELYSIUM. There are heavily textured synthesizer backdrops, swelling orchestral strings, and delicate, moving passages of solo piano, all executed with a sensitivity to the beauty and scope of the majestic landscape Deaton admires.
Each of the 15 tracks is dedicated to a particular mountain (including Mt. Elbert, Pikes Peak, Huron Peak, and Mt. Sneffels), and it is not difficult to imagine that the composer conceived each melodic passage as a love letter to its designated geographical location. XIV COLORADO ELYSIUM would be the ultimate soundtrack for a hike through the region, but listeners confined to their armchairs and headphones will get their fair share of gorgeous panoramas from the sweeping music herein.
