The Cleopatra label's World's Greatest Heavy Metal Anthems has a pretty good track listing if you're a fan of '80s pop-metal, but be warned: None of these are the original versions. A couple, in fact, weren't even re-recorded by the full bands (i.e., Mike Tramp's "When the Children Cry" and Kip Winger's "Headed for a Heartbreak"). Most of the re-recordings sound like they were done in concert, and while some of the performances are decent, others sound like the vocalists have lost some range in the upper register (either the melodies have been lowered a little or the keys have been shifted downward). All in all, it's kind of a sad spectacle.
