AllMusic Review by

This EMI disc contains the main themes from 15 films about World War II, performed not by the original artists from the original movies but by the Band of the Royal Military School of Music under the direction of LT. Col. C.J. Ross A.R.C.M./F.I.S.M./P.S.M. This might disappoint fans of classic films, but listeners looking for rousing performances of these themes played by a crackerjack military band need look no further. Under Ross' distinguished leadership, the Royal Military School Band plays the holy heck out of such rip-roaring themes as The Dambusters March, 633 Squadron, and The Battle of Britain. With a stalwart brass section, a doughty wind section, and a percussion section big enough to include most of Wales, the members of the band play as if their lives depended on it, and Ross wrings every drop of emotion and excitement out of it. Though EMI's digital sound is a bit rough and lacking in resolution, the performances more than make up for it.
