AllMusic Review by

It’s easy to forget, since lead singer Frankie Valli got most of the attention and press, that the Four Seasons started out (and remained) an intact and self-contained band throughout their career, and keyboardist, songwriter, arranger, and producer Bob Gaudio in particular had a huge part in determining and shaping the group’s sound and legacy. This two-disc set collects key tracks from the Four Seasons' early years (“Sherry,” “Dawn [Go Away],” “Silence Is Golden,” “Rag Doll,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Candy Girl,” “Ronnie”) in the 1960s on disc one and adds tracks from the group’s comeback years ("Who Loves You," "December 1963 [Oh What a Night!]") in the mid-'70s on the second disc to make a well-rounded portrait of this unique and often unsung vocal band. All the essentials are here.
