The second of three sets that find Herman presenting all-star groups, this one is quite a saxophone summit. The tenors of Al Cohn, Sal Nistico, Bill Perkins and Flip Phillips (referred to as "Four Others" because none of them were on the original recording of "Four Brothers" and each played with a different Herd) and a strong rhythm section form an exciting septet. Al Cohn's arrangements perfectly set up the soloists on these attractive jam tunes. Herman only actually appears on one song, joining the group on alto for "Tenderly," but he must have enjoyed seeing his alumni all still playing at their prime.
